The INRA delegation of 13 scientific directors and division heads was led by INRA President François Houllier. The delegation was received by their counterparts of Wageningen University and Research Centre (WUR), headed by President Aalt Dijkhuizen. A major player in agricultural research in Europe, WUR produces knowledge in the field of life sciences and natural resources.

The two organisations have already a long-standing and fruitful collaboration in various research fields. Moreover, they are each other’s most frequent and important partner in the FP7 framework projects of the EU.

Four lines were identified along which the collaboration will be further developed in the coming years:

1.      Defining a joint vision on the future of food & agriculture and the related research priorities,

2.      Sharing each other's research infrastructure and facilities,

3.      Increasing the exchange of staff and students, and

4.      Joining forces to help prepare the Horizon 2020 research programme of the EU.

Both organisations expressed the wish to have periodical updates on the progress of the collaboration and at least one meeting per year like this one.
