The agreement signed by Li Jiayang, President of the CAAS and Vice-Minister of Agriculture, and François Houllier, President and Director General of INRA, renews and strengthens the collaboration which began in 1986. It favours the development of joint research projects as part of INRA's large transversal projects (metaprogrammes) and the joint participation in European and international calls for proposal on agriculture, food security and climate change.

The three major topics of the collaboration focus on:

  • the sustainability of agricultural production, for food and non-food purposes, in a context of global change;
  • the relationship between nutrition and health;
  • the relationship between the environment, soils and climate change.
