Launched in March 2016, the TomGEM project (A holistic multi-actor approach towards the design of new tomato varieties and management practices to improve yield and quality in the face of climate change) aims to improve the yields and quality of tomato varieties in the context of climate change. Coordinated by the INRA-ENSAT Joint Research Unit for Fruit Genomics and Biotechnology in Toulouse, and supported by the TULIP LabEx, 18 partners (from Europe, Argentina and Taiwan) are involved in this international consortium.

Research carried out between 2013 and 2015 by INRA and the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations has come to fruition in a published report presented on 29 August 2016 during an international symposium in China. The report will also feature in a satellite event during the 43rd session of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), co-organised by INRA, FAO and IFOAM, from 17 to 21 October 2016.

On 4 July 2016 in Paris, INRA and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) signed a framework agreement on research and training aimed at developing their collaboration in modelling the impacts of climate change on agriculture and global food security.

Each year, INRA meets its partner organisations from Canada, the United States and Great Britain for a tetrapartite meeting. The objectives of this meeting are to discuss the common major scientific challenges of the four organizations and identify areas of scientific collaboration. The 2016 tetrapartite meeting is hosted from 2 to 4 May at the INRA Research Centre in Montpellier.
