In the framework of preparing Horizon Europe and to bring a common scientific perspective to the pivotal question of pesticide use in agriculture, INRA together with the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) and the Julius Kühn-Institut German Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants (JKI) have elaborated a scoping paper. This document is intended to be the cornerstone for future discussions on this topic.

In 2021, the Horizon Europe programme will take over from the present research and innovation framework programme (Horizon 2020). This period represents therefore a key opportunity for INRA to present its scientific priorities in order to meet Sustainable Development Goals but also to make the Institute more attractive and to contribute to the development of major sites for agricultural research in France.

For the past two years, teams at INRA’s Occitanie-Toulouse centre have been working with stakeholders from around the world on the SMARTER project. Their proposal to study genetic selection to increase resilience and efficiency in small ruminants in their local environments has just been accepted for the European H2020 programme.
