Inra and the Doctoral School RP2E offer during 2016 one "Contrat Jeune Scientifique" (Young Scientist Contract) for 3 years (duration for completion of a PhD). Research will take place at Nancy (France). Candidates may choose among the three topics offered this year

The European HabEat project, coordinated by INRA in Dijon and involving ten partners from six European countries, enabled a clearer understanding of how dietary behaviours and preferences develop during the early years of life.

The spatial distribution of soil microbial communities, and the processes involved in this distribution, are still generally unknown at a large scale (landscape, region, territory). We have shown for the first time that the taxa-area relationship was significant at a large scale in the case of bacterial communities, and was positively correlated to the diversity and heterogeneity of soil habitats.

A significant proportion of our behaviours and food choices is influenced by non-conscious processes. Two studies have been performed in this area, and for the first time we were able to show that a fruity odour (melon/pear) perceived unconsciously had an impact on food choices in adults, guiding them towards fruits or vegetables.

The development of an innovative imaging technique has enabled the demonstration that the plasma membrane of plant cells is a mosaic of territories, each presenting varied biophysical properties. The global and local organisation of this membrane is modified very rapidly in response to certain molecules arising from micro-organisms, thus establishing a functional link between this organisation and the development of defence mechanisms
