AllEnvi, the French national alliance for environmental research, has produced a study on possible future environmental scenarios based on a survey of major international foresight studies. The study tackled two issues: What do the scenarios look like and how long are their timelines? While future possibilities go from one extreme to another – from “Chaos” in the trajectories to “Positive Synergies” or environmental degradation and improvement – soil and water appear to face the most danger. These scenarios revealed major deficiencies with regard to seas, oceans, coastlines and forests that need to be quickly addressed.

The International Agricultural Show is also the occasion to meet and discuss with some of these partners. A closer look at some of these discussions.

The European Inno4Grass project brings together 20 partners from eight countries to give a boost to grassland innovation. Christian Huyghe, Scientific Director for Agriculture at INRA, is coordinating the participation of INRA teams for this project, including the head of the Regional Scientific and Technical Information team in Poitou-Charentes. The seminar to kick off the project was held in Berlin from 14 to 16 February 2017.

The Eucleg project seeks to reduce Europe’s and China’s dependency on imported plant proteins by developing legume crops. It is coordinated by the Multidisciplinary Research Unit for Grasslands and Forage Crops (URP3F) and supported by the European Union.
